Junior Technical Director

Job Purpose

A leader in innovation, the Junior Technical Director (TD) supports the team from design through delivery and oversees Redstory events. The Junior TD has the vital responsibility of customer happiness, event success, and client retention through the care and attention to all technical aspects of Redstory’s events for clients. The Junior TD is primarily responsible for preparing and overseeing all system design for Redstory and designated customers, and will lead, manage, and oversee the hiring of vendors and crew for events alongside the Vice President of Events. The Junior TD is the expert in system design and build of all technical systems for customers needing production solutions, and will be the lead technician onsite unless otherwise designated to another technician.

Job Duties

Manage and direct production process from design through delivery for events and client activations

Facilitate drawing and designing (VectorWorks) all technical drawings for systems

Collaborate with Vice President of Events to define client requirements and solutions

Collaborate with Vice President of Events and Event Producer to develop event budgets and event production schedules

Participate in client presentations when required

Produce events with a high level of production value within established budgets

Outline and manage production schedules for all assigned events

Manage production budgets for all assigned events

Onsite technical supervisor: oversee load-in/load-out, show operations, and labor management

Hire and direct selected vendors

Hire and manage onsite event staff and crews

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or 2 plus years relevant experience in an event production role

Excellent decision making and time management skills

Experience with purchasing and budget management as well as meeting management best practices

High attention to detail and budget management skills

Strong sense of self-awareness & self confidence, with a willingness/hunger to consistently improve on weaknesses to better serve the values and goals of the company

Experience researching and implementing new software across a department to streamline and maximize efficiency and stay up to date with software development

OTHER IMPORTANT SKILLS: Great judgment and teamwork, verbal communication skills, adaptability, professionalism, and enthusiasm for the job

Technical Skills

Experience with various audio, lighting and video equipment and software

Experience with various project, people, financial, and inventory management software (i.e., project management software, CRMs, etc.)

Experience with virtual event platforms and registration management Proficient in Google Workspace

Skilled at using multiple presentation platforms: PowerPoint, Keynote, Adobe platform, etc.

Knowledge of creative and production workflows

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software, email, PC and Apple operating systems, spreadsheet software, and Microsoft Word processing software.

We provide a stipend for cell phone and internet service at $75.00 per month.
